PRESIDENT

SANTA BARBARA BOTANIC GARDEN
(Santa Barbara, California)

The Santa Barbara Botanic Garden seeks an imaginative, creative innovator and inspirational leader who will be an enthusiastic advocate for the mission of the Garden and will lead the organization into the future.  Established in 1926, the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden is an educational and scientific institution fostering stewardship of the natural world through inspired learning, rigorous scholarship, and premier displays with an emphasis on plants native to California.

The President is the Chief Executive Officer of the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden and articulates and advances the mission and goals of the organization.  The President will have overarching responsibility for executing the vision of the Garden.  The President will be responsible for an operating budget of approximately $2.5 million and a staff of approximately 40 plus more than 200 active volunteers. The President will develop and lead a team of scientists and researchers in native California plant research, ecology, preservation, and conservation, and thus having an academic background in these areas would be desirable.  An advanced degree in a relevant field is required; a doctoral degree is preferred.
